About the Frequency Converter
One hertz is one cycle per second, and everything else on this page is that idea rescaled or rewritten. Audio sits between roughly 20 Hz and 20 kHz, radio and Wi-Fi live in the megahertz and gigahertz range, and processor clocks are quoted in gigahertz. Paste the figures from a datasheet and read them back in whichever prefix your notes use.
Rotational units share the same dimension, so they belong here too. A revolution per minute is a sixtieth of a hertz, which means a 3000 rpm motor turns at 50 Hz and a 1500 rpm shaft at 25 Hz. Radians per second is the angular velocity form preferred in control theory and equals 2 pi hertz, so 50 Hz becomes about 314.16 rad/s. Degrees per second and beats per minute round out the set for animation timing and music tempo.
A practical note for audio work: 44100 Hz is the CD sample rate and 48000 Hz the video standard, both far above the highest audible tone because sampling has to happen at more than twice the top frequency. For radio, remember that wavelength is the speed of light divided by frequency, so a 2.4 GHz signal has a wavelength near 12.5 centimetres.
