About the Pictionary Word Generator
The failure mode of a drawing game is a word nobody can start. Abstract nouns, brand names and long compounds all stall the timer, so every one of the 125 words here has an obvious shape: a lighthouse, a wheelbarrow, a nutcracker, an escalator, a spider web. Most are single objects, and a few are scenes such as a pillow fight or a lemonade stand, which give a stronger player something to stretch into.
Keep repeats off and the whole batch is unique, which matters because a repeated word gives the second team an unfair advantage. Twelve words is about right for one round with two teams. Generate all 125 with repeats off and you have a full deck to cut into cards before the guests arrive.
Nothing here needs a phone during play, so download the list and read from paper if the room is loud. For a spoken guessing game the same words work as charades prompts. If you need to split people into teams first, the Random Name Picker will do it, and the Coin Flip settles who draws first.
How to use
- Choose how many words the round needs, around twelve for two teams.
- Keep No repeats ticked so no word appears twice in a game.
- Press Generate and keep the list on one device, away from the players.
- Download the full set of 125 words if you want to print cards.
Common questions
- How many words are in the list?
- There are 125, all chosen because they have an obvious visual shape a beginner can start drawing straight away.
- Are there difficulty levels?
- No levels, but the list mixes simple single objects with a few scenes, so harder words appear naturally in a long batch.
- Can I use these for charades?
- Yes. Every word is a concrete object or scene, which acts out about as well as it draws.
- Why should I turn off repeats?
- A repeated word inside one game hands the second team an easy round, so unique batches keep it fair.
