About the Random IPL Team Generator

All ten Indian Premier League franchises are in this picker, and each one is returned with its home city and home stadium, so a draw reads Rajasthan Royals (Jaipur, Sawai Mansingh Stadium) rather than a bare name. The stadium detail makes the tool useful beyond a coin toss, since it doubles as a quick reference when you are writing about a fixture or setting up a quiz round.

Because the league has exactly ten sides, a draw of two with repeats off gives you a fixture. Draw ten and you have a randomised order for a fantasy draft or a five a side tournament bracket. Friends running a prediction pool use it to assign teams fairly, and quiz hosts use it to choose which franchise the next question is about.

Franchise names and home grounds change from time to time, so treat the venue as a guide rather than a booking confirmation. For a general purpose draw where you supply your own names, the Random Picker shuffles any pasted list, and the Coin Flip settles the toss once the two teams are chosen.

How to use

  1. Set the count to two for a fixture, or ten for a full draft order.
  2. Press Generate to draw teams with city and stadium attached.
  3. Leave No repeats on so no franchise is drawn twice in one round.
  4. Copy the result into your group chat or download it for the pool sheet.

Common questions

How many teams can I draw?
Up to ten with repeats off, because the league has exactly ten franchises.
Can I use it to make a fixture?
Yes. Draw two teams with repeats off and you have a match, then draw again for the next pairing.
Is the stadium always current?
Home grounds occasionally move, so check the current season schedule if the venue matters for what you are writing.
Does it pick players too?
No, this tool works at team level. For a player draw, use a name picker with your own squad list pasted in.
