About the Text Flipper
Four different flips hide behind one word, so the dropdown names each of them plainly. Mirror image reverses the character order and then swaps each letter for a Unicode character that looks like its reflection, which is the effect you get holding writing up to a mirror. Backwards only reverses the order and leaves the letterforms alone, which is the right choice when the text must still be typed back easily.
Upside down turns the text through a full half turn: the order is reversed and every letter is replaced by an inverted look-alike, so it reads correctly when the screen or the phone is rotated. Letters flipped in place keeps the reading order and only inverts the shapes, which produces a stranger effect that works well as a header.
Everything comes out as real Unicode characters, not an image, so it can be pasted into a bio, a message or a document. Two practical notes. Some substitutes are borrowed from Latin extensions and Cyrillic, so a very old font may show a box for one or two of them, and screen readers will read those characters as their own letters rather than yours, which makes this a poor choice for anything important. Mirroring is applied line by line, so a multi line block keeps its lines in order. - What is the difference between mirror and backwards?
- Backwards only reverses the character order. Mirror also swaps each letter for a reflected look-alike, so it reads correctly in a mirror.
- Will it work in my social media bio?
- Usually yes, because the output is ordinary Unicode text. A few platforms strip unusual characters, so test before you save.
- Why does one letter look like a box?
- That device has no glyph for the substitute character. Trying a different flip mode normally avoids the gap.
- Are multiple lines handled?
- Yes. Each line is flipped on its own and the line order stays as you typed it.
