About the Meme Generator
The look everyone recognises is white capitals in a condensed grotesque with a thick black outline, anchored to the top and bottom edges. This page reproduces it on any picture you supply. Captions wrap automatically: the text is measured against ninety two percent of the canvas width and broken between words, then each line is stroked and filled so the outline never eats into the letter shapes.
Text size is a percentage of the picture height rather than a fixed point size, so the caption looks the same on a small avatar and on a wide photograph. The outline is a percentage of that size for the same reason. Pictures narrower than six hundred pixels are enlarged first, otherwise the smallest legible font would cover half the frame; turn that off if you specifically want a tiny image out.
The condensed face is requested by name and the browser falls back through a short list, so the exact letterforms depend on what is installed. On a machine with none of them, a bold system sans serif is used and the meme still reads correctly. Nothing about the picture is uploaded, which matters when the joke involves an internal dashboard or a private chat. There is no watermark and no account. How to use
- Drop the picture you want to caption onto the left pane.
- Type the Top text and Bottom text, leaving either one blank to use only the other.

Common questions
- Why does my caption use a different font than expected?
- The classic condensed face is not installed on every system. The browser falls back to the closest bold sans serif it has, so the layout holds even when the letterforms differ.
- How do I get a caption in the middle of the picture?
- Put the words in the top box and raise the text size, or add the line to both boxes and lower the size so the two blocks meet near the centre.
- Is a watermark added to the result?
- No. The file you download contains only your picture and your captions, at the original resolution or the enlarged one.
- Can I use lower case?
- Yes. Turn off Force capitals and the text is drawn exactly as you typed it.
