About the Twitter Header Generator
The header slot on an X profile is 1500 by 500 pixels, a three to one strip that behaves differently on every screen. The full width shows on a desktop browser, while narrower viewports crop the left and right edges, and the profile picture overlaps the lower left corner. Anything important therefore belongs in the middle band, away from all four edges, which is why the optional safe circle guide is included: switch it on while you position the text, then switch it off before you export.
Type a headline, a supporting line and a handle, and each is fitted to the available width automatically by stepping the font size down until it measures short enough. Long headlines shrink rather than overflow, so a fifty character line still fits without manual adjustment. The three lines are stacked as a block and centred vertically, with the subline and handle drawn at reduced opacity to build a visible hierarchy.
Backgrounds cover ten gradients, a flat colour and a transparent option, with a free gradient angle. On top of that sits an optional pattern of dots, a grid, diagonal stripes or concentric rings, drawn in white at a low opacity so it adds texture rather than noise. Three other common sizes are offered next to the header: a double resolution version for crisp rendering on high density screens, a 1200 by 675 post card and a 1024 by 512 summary card. For a matching profile picture, Round Image Corners will cut a square photo into a circle.
How to use
- Type your Headline, a subline and your handle into the toolbar fields.
- Choose a background gradient and a pattern, then set the angle and opacity.
- Turn on the avatar safe circle to check nothing important hides behind the profile picture, then turn it off.
- Download the PNG and upload it to your profile.
