About the Blue Screen
Blue is the hardest primary for most panels. It is the dimmest of the three to the human eye, it is where cheap LED backlights show the largest colour shift off axis, and on OLED it is the sub-pixel that ages fastest. A full blue field therefore tells you more about panel quality than white does: look for patchiness, a purple cast towards the corners, and dots that refuse to light.
Move your head from side to side while the blue field is showing. On a TN panel the colour will swing noticeably towards grey or purple within a few degrees, on an IPS panel it stays much steadier, and that single observation identifies the panel type more reliably than a specification sheet. The navy shade at low brightness is also a comfortable backdrop for a webcam if you need something plain behind a small object on a desk.

How to use
- Choose a blue; pure blue drives the blue sub-pixel hardest.

Common questions
- Is this the Windows blue screen of death?
- No. This is simply a blue background you can put on any display; it is not an error message and nothing has crashed.
- Why does blue look uneven on my monitor?
- Blue reveals backlight and filter variation more than other colours because the eye receives less light from it, so small differences in output become visible.
- Can I film against this as a blue screen background?
- For a small object on a desk it can work, though a monitor emits light rather than reflecting it, which makes the key edges harder to pull cleanly.
- Does the blue light here strain my eyes?
- A bright blue field at night is tiring to look at. Lower the brightness or pick navy if you plan to leave it showing for more than a moment.
