About the Glitch Text Generator
Glitch text, often called zalgo, is made by attaching combining diacritics to ordinary letters. A font draws each mark relative to the character before it, so a handful of them turns clean type into something that looks like it is tearing apart. This page gives you a dial rather than a single fixed effect, which matters when the result has to still be readable.
Intensity sets how many marks land per character, from one or two at Subtle up to eighteen at Maximum. Direction chooses whether the distortion grows upward, hangs downward, or does both. The strike-through option pulls in a third group of marks that sit across the letters instead of around them, giving a more electrical, interference-like texture. Spaces and line breaks are never decorated so words stay separated.
Output is reproducible. A seeded generator derives its randomness from your text, meaning the same phrase glitched twice gives an identical string. That is useful when you want a channel name and its description to match exactly.
Where you paste it matters. Discord and Twitter render the marks but clip very tall stacks, YouTube titles usually accept moderate intensity, and some forums normalise the text and strip the effect entirely.

- Yes, they describe the same technique. Zalgo is the older nickname from a 2004 web comic; glitch text is the term most generators use now.
- Why does my glitch text look tame on iPhone?
- iOS clamps how far combining marks can extend past the line. The same string usually looks wilder on desktop browsers.
- Can I make it glitch only downward?
- Yes. Set the direction to Downward and every mark will hang below the baseline instead of climbing above it.
- Does it change my actual letters?
- No. The original characters are kept and marks are appended, so deleting the marks restores the words.
