About the God Name Generator
A pantheon becomes memorable through its domains, not its names. War, love and death are taken; what makes a made-up religion feel lived in are the small offices that a farming or seafaring people would actually pray to. This generator holds 70 domains of that kind: kept promises, empty nets, the potter's wheel, unopened letters, the ninth wave, honest weights.
The 70 names are built from soft liquid consonants and long endings, which is the sound most invented divine names share across settings. Each is paired with one of five relationships to its domain. A god of storms and a warden of storms imply different theology, and a herald implies the god answers to something above it, which is a free plot hook.
Generate a dozen and you have a pantheon with internal politics: two gods will overlap, and overlap is where schisms and rival temples come from. Writers can take a single line as a chapter epigraph.
